The future of Earth is bleak. Over-population has forced its inhabitants to live under ridiculously strict laws. Nick 8, a project developer for the Interplanetary Housing Authority, hates being around people, which, on this crowded world, psychologically crushes him. He needs to get away and pursue his one ambition, to write a song.
He maneuvers himself into a house on an asteroid where he is finally alone - alone, that is, except for an alien, a pizza man, and a provocative neighbor, and ... a clam.
