Biography:
Like most filmmakers of his generation, Mark's
defining moment came with the release of STAR WARS. With its
ground breaking visual effects, this film inspired Mark, fourteen
at the time, to commandeer a Super 8 film camera and enter the
world of image recording and creation. He would serve as Staff
Photographer for both his high school annual and for "The
Daily O'Collegian," at Oklahoma State University. With a
foundation in still photography established, Mark immersed himself
in motion picture studies at the prestigious Brooks Institute
of Photographic Art and Science in Santa Barbara,
California, and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1987. To
solidify his technical knowledge of motion picture equipment,
Mark secured the position of camera technician for, Hill Production
Service, the very company that provided the ultra-high speed
film cameras used on STAR WARS. Moving on, Mark began a successful
freelance career as a Camera Assistant, working for such notable
cameramen as Dominic Palmieri; Michael Margulies, ASC; Jack Conroy;
John Alonzo, ASC; George Stevens; Robert Richardson, ASC; Stan
McClain and many others. Today Mark is a partner in Brillig Productions,
L.L.C. He and fellow Brooks Alumnus Jürgen Heimann are currently
in production on the digital media film THE PUPHEDZ. The convergence
of digital media, film and the Internet finds Mark looking for
new and more challenging avenues in which to ply his craft.
